Droidcon Boston, the most community driven event is coming back this year on March 26–27 at The Most Happening Venue: Calderwood Pavilion. This historic and impressive venue offers multiple spaces for gathering and is located in the stylish South End neighborhood of Boston.

If you were a part of Droidcon Boston last year, then you are already aware of all the fun we all had at the event. Checkout this preview if you couldn’t be a part of it!

Just like last year, we’ll have two days full of knowledgeable speakers, friendly people, swag, and parties!

This year we received more than 170 proposals and have published our first round of speakers on the website. We will be confirming and posting the second round of speakers soon.

Meet keynote Speakers!

Lisa Wray is an Android developer, speaker, and advocate specializing in user interfaces. Lisa will share with you how to chase the dream of open source, fame, and fortune, no matter the size of your company in her keynote titled “Tips for Library Development from a Startup Developer“.

Kelly Shuster is an Android Developer at Ibotta and a Google Developer Expert for Android. Kelly will talk about how developers and designers can work quickly and efficiently to create beautiful apps that users will adore in her keynote titled “Design + Develop + Test”.

Sam Edwards is a Lead Android Engineer at Capital One, a Google Developer Expert for Android, and an instructor at Caster.io. Sam will share his life experiences in his keynote titled “How to do a Handstand”. Sam says, “It isn’t about how good you are at something, but it’s about spending your limited time doing what you enjoy, learning, growing and sharing your experiences.“

Our Speakers

Get ready to meet some great speakers at Droidcon Boston 2018 who will talk about topics like security, Kotlin, Test Driven Development, coroutines, RxJava, and much much more. Here’s a look at some of our speakers:

Danny Preussler

Danny is a GDE and Head of Mobile at sporttotal.tv. He is going to take a workshop titled “Test Drive Your Android App (with Kotlin)!” in which he will talk about how to produce better code and less bugs with TDD.

Ana Baotić

Ana is a software engineer with over six years of experience in Android, currently working as a Project Manager at Asseco SEE. In her talk titled “Sign Here, Please!”, Ana will talk about the Android keystore system, everyday mechanisms that are often taken for granted, and the impact that they have on users’ security.

Manuel Vicente Vivo

Manuel Vivo is a mobile software engineer working at Capital One. In his talk titled “Coroutines and RxJava: An Asynchronicity Comparison“, Manuel will talk about how we can get coroutines and RxJava to work together using examples and diagrams to make it easier to digest.

Nicholas DiPatri

Nick DiPatri is a Principal Engineer at Comcast. Last year at Droidcon Boston 2017, Nick gave a very interesting talk titled “Practical RxJava with an Air Canon” which actually featured an air canon. This year, in his talk titled “Practical Kotlin with a Disco Ball”, Get ready for some disco and lots of Kotlin!

Jeb Ware

Jeb has been developing for Android since the original G1. He has worked at Lockheed Martin and Charles Schwab in addition to making apps for several local startups in Charlotte. In his talk titled “How ProGuard Works” Jeb is going to open the scary black box of ProGuard and give us some insights on how ProGuard is analyzing and transforming our apps.
